netTrekker gives you the ability to personalize your search results by refining your results to find specific types of content. When a search result contains websites that have more than one form of content, using the More Search Options link opens a menu of choices you can use to refine your results.

To access the second More Search Options link, either click anywhere within the Search Term box or click .

More Search Options enable you to focus your search results to include very specific options. To refine your search, complete any of the following:
Keyword or Phrase
You can refine your search by filling in keywords or phrases in the blanks provided. You can ask netTrekker to search for a full phrase, a variety of words, or even to exclude certain words.
Subject (available when a subject area has not yet been selected)
Use the pull-down menu to select a subject area (Science, Language Arts, etc.). Once you choose a subject, you can then move to the next menu to narrow your search further by topics within that subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.).
Source Type
Use the pull-down menus to select specific domain types and website sources. Choices include:
Encyclopedia Websites Internet Library Websites Museum Websites Public Library Websites Government Organizations (.gov, .mil, etc.) College and University Websites (.edu, etc.) K-12 School Websites Non-Profit Organizations |
Rating
All netTrekker website resources are given an Overall Rating between 1 and 5 (with 5 being the highest). Use the pull-down menu if you would like to refine your Search Result to a single overall rating.
Readability
netTrekker learning resources are scored for readability on a scale of 1 to 5. Use the pull-down menu if you would like to refine your result to a single readability rating. For more on netTrekker’s Readability Scores, click here.
Multimedia
Use the pull-down menus to select a specific type of content that you want included in the resources that make up your result. Choices include:

You may choose to filter out controversial material from your result. The default is “No Filtering.”
Wikipedia
You may choose to filter out Wikipedia resources from your result. The default is “No Filtering.”
When you have selected all you wish to select, click . A result page will appear, listing only those resources which include your selection.
