A Learning Resource Type (LRT) attempts to describe the primary intent of a piece of educational content, realizing it can be referred to as many things. Because educational content often carries an abundance of characteristics, users can be left confused as to how to locate a particular type of resource in search tools. The use of LRTs and characteristics specific to different types of learning resources will combat this confusion by describing the essence of a resource.
